Description

The Mazda Rotary Engine Pickup (REPU) was a compact pickup truck produced by the Japanese automaker Mazda from 1974 to 1977. It was based on the B-series pickup truck and was the world’s first and only rotary-powered pickup.

The REPU was powered by Mazda’s 13B rotary engine, which was capable of producing 110 horsepower and 117 lb-ft of torque. It was mated to a four-speed manual transmission and had a top speed of 100 mph. The REPU was praised for its smooth and powerful rotary engine, as well as its handling and driving dynamics.

The REPU was offered in two trim levels: the standard model and the sportier “S” model. The S model featured a front spoiler, rear wheel flares, and a tachometer. The REPU also featured a unique styling, with a large “REPU” decal on the tailgate and a distinct grille design.

Despite its unique features, the REPU was not a commercial success and was discontinued after only three years of production. However, it has since gained a cult following among Mazda and rotary engine enthusiasts. Today, the REPU is considered a rare and collectible vehicle, with many enthusiasts modifying and restoring them to their former glory.
