Description

The Porsche 962 was a sports prototype racing car built by Porsche from 1984 to 1991. It was a replacement for the Porsche 956 and used the same 2.65-liter, flat-six engine that was mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The car was successful in both the IMSA GT Championship and the World Sportscar Championship, winning Le Mans in 1986, 1987, and 1994. The 962 was also available to privateer teams and was raced extensively in various championships around the world. Its dominance in endurance racing cemented its place as one of the most iconic and successful race cars ever built.
