Description

The Cadillac GTP Hypercar (officially the Cadillac V-Series.R) marks Cadillac’s entry into the new global prototype era launched in 2023 under IMSA’s GTP and the FIA WEC’s Le Mans Hypercar/LMDh regulations. Building on Cadillac’s successful DPi program, the GTP car was designed to compete not only in North America, but also on the world stage — including the 24 Hours of Le Mans — against manufacturers like Porsche, Ferrari, Toyota, BMW, Lamborghini, Alpine, and Acura.

Developed in partnership with Dallara, the V-Series.R uses the LMDh architecture: a common carbon chassis paired with manufacturer-designed bodywork and engine, combined with a standardized hybrid system. Cadillac chose a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 paired with the spec hybrid unit, emphasizing durability, drivability, and the signature Cadillac sound, while still meeting hybrid efficiency and energy rules.

The car made its competitive debut at the 2023 Rolex 24 at Daytona, finishing on the podium — an impressive opening statement. That same season, Cadillac earned multiple podiums in IMSA and returned to Le Mans for the first time in 20 years, finishing inside the top ten overall and demonstrating reliability over outright pace. Continued development has made the car increasingly competitive, underscoring Cadillac’s commitment to long-distance racing.

More than just a race program, the GTP Hypercar reinforces Cadillac’s performance identity, linking its motorsport success with the V-Series road cars. It represents Cadillac’s most ambitious factory effort since its historic racing campaigns of the 1950s and early 2000s, signaling America’s luxury brand firmly belongs on the world’s biggest endurance racing stages.
