K.I.T.T. (Knight Industries Two Thousand) is a fictional, high-tech car that appeared in the television series Knight Rider from 1982 to 1986. K.I.T.T. was based on a modified 1982 Pontiac Trans Am and featured a wide array of advanced technology, including artificial intelligence, a Turbo Boost for jumping, a “molecular bonded shell” for armor, and a “tri-helical plutonium-fired turbine engine” for propulsion. K.I.T.T. was driven by Michael Knight, played by David Hasselhoff, and became an iconic symbol of 1980s pop culture.
