Description
The Corvette C7.R is a high-performance racing car developed by Chevrolet Racing for competition in the GTLM (GT Le Mans) class of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was first introduced in 2014 and based on the seventh generation Corvette, the C7.
The C7.R is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V8 engine that produces over 500 horsepower and is paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox. The car features a lightweight carbon fiber body and aerodynamic enhancements, such as a large rear wing and front splitter, to improve downforce and overall performance.
The C7.R has had numerous successes in racing, including multiple wins at the 24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, and Petit Le Mans. It also won the GTLM manufacturer’s championship in 2016 and 2017, as well as the driver’s championship in 2016. The C7.R was retired after the 2019 season, replaced by the Corvette C8.R based on the eighth generation Corvette, the C8.
