Description
The Ferrari 499P was unveiled in 2022 for the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Hypercar class, representing Ferrari’s first factory prototype effort at Le Mans since 1973. Built to LMH regulations, it blends cutting-edge hybrid technology with Ferrari’s racing heritage: a twin-turbo V6 derived from Ferrari’s road-car architecture paired with a front-axle electric motor and sophisticated energy-recovery system, all wrapped in aerodynamics shaped closely with Ferrari’s Formula 1 and GT programs.
Competing under the banner of Ferrari AF Corse, the 499P debuted in the 2023 WEC season — and immediately made history. In June 2023, car #51 captured overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, defeating entrenched rivals and giving Ferrari its first Le Mans overall win in 50 years. The 499P went on to be a consistent front-runner, symbolizing Ferrari’s rebirth in endurance racing.
Today, the 499P stands as a milestone machine: technologically advanced, unmistakably Ferrari in design and spirit, and a reminder that the marque still thrives when the challenge is 24 hours long and victory must be earned through speed, efficiency, and resilience.
