Description

The 1970 Ford Escort RS1600 was a high-performance version of the Escort Mark I, developed by Ford’s Advanced Vehicle Operations (AVO) division. It was powered by a 1.6-liter Cosworth BDA engine that produced 120 horsepower, which was paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. The RS1600 also featured upgraded suspension and brakes, as well as wider wheels and tires. The car was successful in rallying, winning several major events including the 1972 World Rally Championship. It is considered a classic among automotive enthusiasts and collectors.
