The Ford Escort RS2000 was a high-performance version of the Ford Escort produced between 1976 and 2003. The first generation RS2000 was introduced in 1976 and was powered by a 2.0-liter OHC Pinto engine. It was available in two- and four-door versions and featured a range of performance upgrades, including a strengthened four-speed gearbox, rear axle, and suspension.
In 1980, the second-generation RS2000 was introduced, and it was powered by a 1.8-liter CVH engine. It featured a revised suspension and a five-speed gearbox, and it was available in three- and five-door versions. The third-generation RS2000 was introduced in 1991 and was powered by a 2.0-liter engine producing 150 horsepower. It featured a five-speed gearbox and was available in both two- and four-wheel drive versions.
