Description
The Lancia 037, also known as the Lancia Rally, is a mid-engine rally car that was produced by Lancia in the early 1980s. It was designed specifically to compete in the Group B rally class and was the last rear-wheel drive car to win the World Rally Championship. The 037 was powered by a supercharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine that produced around 205 horsepower, which was sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. Lancia built just 207 examples of the 037, all of which were homologation specials designed to satisfy the requirements of Group B rally racing. The car was highly successful, winning the WRC manufacturer’s championship in 1983, and the driver’s championship in 1983 and 1984 with Walter Röhrl behind the wheel.
