Description
The Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evolution (EVO) is a high-performance version of the Mercedes 190E compact executive car. It was introduced in 1989 as an update to the previous 190E 2.5-16 model, which was developed specifically for homologation in Group A touring car racing.
The EVO featured a larger 2.5-liter engine with improved power output, producing up to 235 horsepower. The suspension was also revised, with wider tires, larger brakes, and stiffer springs and dampers. Other upgrades included a body kit, a rear spoiler, and Recaro seats.
The EVO II variant was introduced in 1990, featuring further enhancements including an even larger rear spoiler, wider fender flares, and a more powerful engine producing up to 255 horsepower. Only 500 units of the EVO II were produced, making it a highly sought-after collector’s car today.
