Description

The Volkswagen Beetle RSi is a special edition high-performance variant of the classic VW Beetle that was produced in limited numbers between 2001 and 2003. It was based on the New Beetle, which is a modern reinterpretation of the original Volkswagen Beetle that was first introduced in the 1930s.

The Beetle RSi was developed by Volkswagen’s performance division, Volkswagen Individual GmbH, and it featured numerous upgrades over the standard New Beetle to enhance its performance and handling. It was powered by a 3.2-liter V6 engine that produced 221 kW (300 hp) and was mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The car had all-wheel drive (AWD), which was a unique feature for a Beetle, and it featured a sport-tuned suspension, upgraded brakes, and other performance-oriented modifications.

In terms of design, the Beetle RSi had a distinctive appearance with a wide body kit that included flared fenders, a larger rear spoiler, and unique front and rear bumpers. It also featured 18-inch alloy wheels, a dual-exhaust system, and RSi badges to further differentiate it from the standard New Beetle.

The interior of the Beetle RSi was also upgraded with sport seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, aluminum trim, and special RSi badging. It had a compact and functional cabin with seating for four passengers, although the rear seats were relatively small and best suited for shorter journeys or additional storage space.

The Volkswagen Beetle RSi was produced in limited numbers, with reports suggesting that only around 250 units were built. It was never officially sold in the United States and was primarily offered in select European markets. Due to its limited production numbers and unique performance-oriented features, the Beetle RSi has become a sought-after collector’s car among VW enthusiasts and fans of high-performance vehicles.
