Description

The Volkswagen MK5 Golf GTI was introduced in 2003 as a replacement for the MK4 GTI. It was built on the VW Group A5 platform and was designed by Walter de Silva. It was available in both three-door and five-door hatchback body styles.

The MK5 GTI was powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine that produced 197 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. It was mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The GTI also featured a sport-tuned suspension, upgraded brakes, and a limited-slip differential.

In 2006, the MK5 GTI received a facelift that included a new front bumper, grille, and headlights. The interior was also updated with a new center console and improved materials.

The MK5 GTI was well-received by critics and enthusiasts alike for its combination of practicality and sportiness. It was praised for its responsive handling, strong engine performance, and comfortable ride. The MK5 GTI helped establish the Golf GTI as a top contender in the hot hatch segment.
