The little diecast keychain that led to the real thing…

So when they were new, my aunt and uncle bought a DeLorean. When they sold it, my aunt sent me the spare key, which I treasured. I’d play with it absentmindedly watching TV or doing homework, a gentle reminder of goals and dreams to fulfill. I put it on the DOA keychain to kind of anchor it, and that was cool. It wasn’t long, after I got my drivers license, I started meeting some of the owners in the community, spending more time with those great cars, learning just a bit about their personalities. Moving conjures up a lot of old things, and while I knew the box this key was in, the location of the box was a mystery… but it popped up, and I’ve got my key back. Funny though, now that I have my own DeLorean, this key is now a reminder of how long I’ve dreamed of having one, a reminder of a little boy who liked weird doors and brushed, unpainted steel, and maybe a little wink, a Pat on the back from that kid so long ago saying, “congratulations!! You made it!!” Weird, I know.
