Description
The Dodge Rampage is a small, front-wheel drive pickup truck produced by Chrysler Corporation from 1982 to 1984. It was built on the platform of the Dodge Omni and Plymouth Horizon cars and was marketed as a practical and affordable vehicle for small businesses and individuals. The Rampage was available in two trims: the base model and the sporty Rampage 2.2.
The Rampage was equipped with a standard 2.2-liter inline-four engine that produced 96 horsepower and 119 pound-feet of torque, which was mated to a four-speed manual transmission. A three-speed automatic transmission was available as an option. The Rampage had a payload capacity of 1,145 pounds and could tow up to 1,500 pounds.
In 1983, the Rampage received a facelift that included a new grille and quad rectangular headlights. The Rampage 2.2 trim also received a new sport-tuned suspension and larger wheels and tires. However, sales of the Rampage were disappointing, and it was discontinued after the 1984 model year.
Today, the Dodge Rampage has a small but devoted following among car collectors and enthusiasts. Its unique combination of car-like handling and pickup truck utility, as well as its distinctive styling, make it a sought-after classic car. The Rampage has also inspired a number of custom-built conversions, including those that turn it into a two-door pickup truck or a convertible.
