Description
The 1975 Opel Kadett GT/E was a performance-oriented version of the Kadett B series, which was introduced in 1965 as a replacement for the Opel Rekord. The Kadett GT/E was powered by a 1.9-liter inline-four engine that produced 105 horsepower, which was a significant improvement over the standard Kadett’s 1.2-liter engine.
The Kadett GT/E also featured a number of other performance upgrades, including a close-ratio four-speed transmission, stiffer suspension, and larger brakes. It had a top speed of around 112 mph and could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in around 10 seconds.
The Kadett GT/E was successful in rally competition, winning the European Touring Car Championship in 1974 and 1975. It was also a popular choice among amateur racers and performance enthusiasts.
The Kadett B series was produced until 1979, with the GT/E model being phased out in 1977. Today, the Kadett GT/E is remembered as a significant car in Opel’s history, representing the company’s commitment to performance and motorsport. It remains a popular choice among collectors and enthusiasts, who appreciate its combination of performance, style, and affordability.
