Description

The Porsche 959 was a high-performance sports car produced by Porsche from 1986 to 1993. It was originally designed as a Group B rally car, but due to changes in regulations, it was never raced in that category. Instead, it was homologated as a Group A rally car and became famous for its innovative technology and performance capabilities.

The 959 was powered by a 2.8-liter flat-six engine with twin turbochargers, producing 450 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. It had a top speed of 197 mph and could accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.6 seconds.

The car featured advanced technology for its time, including an all-wheel-drive system, adjustable ride height, and a sophisticated computer-controlled suspension system. It was also the first production car to use tire pressure monitoring, and had an aerodynamic design with a drag coefficient of just 0.31.

Only 337 units of the Porsche 959 were produced, making it a rare and highly sought-after collector’s car. It was also a significant milestone for Porsche, showcasing the brand’s engineering prowess and dedication to innovation in the high-performance automotive market.
